Soon after qualifying and obtaining
his practicing certificate in 1984, Eddie Lewis went into
public practice on his own. As well as client referrals,
Eddie soon decided that acquisition of other practices
and subsequent disposal of the less profitable elements
was the quickest way to grow his practice.
Paul Goff started to work with
Eddie in 1994 and has played a key role in the integration
of acquisitions as they arose. In late 1997 the practice
known as Bruce Allen was acquired and Eddie moved all
his activities to the offices located in Southend. The
main focus of the practice was services to IT and other
contract based one-man limited companies. Changes in legislation
affecting this type of companies created a need to expand
the general practice client base.
By coincidence, a general practice
that Eddie had worked in many years previously became
available. In January 2003 Eddie acquired the client portfolio
and the trading premises based in Hornchurch in Essex.
The staff based at Southend relocated to Hornchurch in
March 2003 and joined the remaining staff from the newly
acquired practice, one of which was Andrew Catley.
After successfully merging the
staff and working practices throughout spring and summer
of 2003, the practice incorporated to a Limited Liability
Partnership with Andrew joining Eddie as partners with
effect from 1 October 2003. The partnership continues
to grow by recommendations and referrals from existing
clients and other sources.
In August 2004 Eddie acquired another practice outside the partnership, based in London's West End. Due to the nature of the practice, Eddie soon found the majority of his time was spent in London. In March 2006 Eddie left Bruce Allen to concentrate fully on his other activities. After many years with Bruce Allen, Paul Goff became a partner on 1 April 2006.
