March 2009
Friday 13th March was Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. We decided to dress as a film character and pay toward the fund. Paul and Andrew thought they had an ideal costume idea - The Blues Brothers - black suit, white shirt and black tie. However, everybody else had different ideas and, with the help of some clients and business colleagues managed to raise £500 for them to dress as Batman and Robin with more than a nod to the Del Boy and Rodney interpretation. The total raised was £530. Thank you to everybody who supported the day. Our pictures from the day are below.

January 2009
It is with sadness that we learnt of the death of former colleague Ben's mother after a long and brave battle against illness.
We were pleased to make a donation to Basildon Rugby Club's Under 13's towards the cost of the easter tour to Norfolk. Andrew's youngest son, Jason, has been playing for team for almost a year and is looking forward to his first tour. |

December 2008
In keeping with recent tradition, this year we are donating our Christmas card money to Basildon CTC Unit, which looked after Andrew earlier this year. |

October 2008
We took part in both the Mullis and Peake 5 a side charity football event and the Barclays Bank charity quiz night. In keeping with our previous levels of performance, we did not win anything at either event but helped in the raising of funds for local charities. |

May 2008
The holiday season has started with colleagues taken leave to various destinations.Karen is continuing her convalescence. We wish her well and look forward to seeing her returning to the office as soon as she is well enough. In the meantime, Michelle has proved a more than adequate understudy.A team of our ladies has entered the Race for Life Charity run in July in Regents Park. More news and pictures to follow when the event takes place. Andrew is now back working virtually full time and still undergoing check ups and cardiac rehab. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
April 2008
Andrew has now returned to work on a full part time basis, working about 5 hours a day at the time being. His health is improving all the time with the help of enough tablets every day to make him rattle as he walks.
As one returns, one goes out. Karen has gone into hospital for an operation on her back. We all wish her well for a speedy recovery.
We celebrated St Georges Day with staff wearing white and red and raising flags around the office. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
March 2008
Andrew is continuing to improve and has been into the office a few times and is looking to to start part time early next month. We welcome Sheila Easton as a direct replacement for Ben. Sheila's profile is in the meet the team section. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
February 2008
Michelle Andreou has now joined us to deal with the implementation and development of our electronic filing system. This is part of our aim to reduce the firms carbon footprint over the next few years. Michelles profile is in the "meet the team" section. After four and a half years with us, Ben Souster left our employment at the end of the month. Ben has left to take on temporary assignments in London. He leaves with the best wishes of all at Bruce Allen. Most of you will already know that at the end of February Andrew had a cardiac arrest/heart attack and was under intensive care for three days and in hospital for a further ten days. He is continuing to recover and is itching to get back to work - mainly due to the quality (or lack thereof) of daytime television. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
January 2008
We are pleased to welcome Frances Weaver to Bruce Allen. Frances is replacing Laura who left us last month. Visit the meet the team section to view Frances' profile. We have also created a new role within the office to deal with the establishment of our electronic filing system. More details will appear next month. |

December 2007
After 2 and 3/4 years with us Laura Williams has left to take a new job in London in a completely different role. We all wish Laura every success and also thank her for her efforts during her time with us.We have nominated the Bobby Moore Cancer Fund as the charity we will support this year by way of sending them the money we would have spent on christmas cards. We wish you a very happy christmas and new year from all at Bruce Allen. |

November 2007
Everybody supported the BBC Children in Need Appeal. As well as some fundraising from the appeal pack, staff were sponsored to come to work in their pyjamas and slippers for the day. Every pound raised by these activities was matched by the firm and an overall donation of just over ?200 was made to the appeal. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
October 2007
We attended the annual Barclays Bank charity quiz night during the month. The questions were tough this year and we didn't manage to challenge the leaders despite having the joint highest score after the first round. October also marks the first year of being in our new offices. The year since the move has gone so quickly. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
September 2007
We are pleased to welcome Kirsty Willis to Bruce Allen. Kirsty has joined us from another local firm of accountants after spending 18 months with them. We were unable to take part in the Mullis and Peake Charity football this year due to holiday commitments and illnesses. |

August 2007
As seems to be the case everywhere, August was very quiet with both staff and clients taking annual leave. There was some bright news amongst the gloom of summer when Ben received the news that he had passed his final exams and is now eleigible for membership of The Association of Accounting Technicians. Well done Ben from everybody - you worked really hard and achieved the results you deserved. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
July 2007
After four years with us Dean Brewer will be leaving at the end of the month. We thank Dean for his efforts whilst he was here and wish him every success with his new employers. We are actively seeking a replacement for his role. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
June 2007
It has been a quiet month. During the torrential downpours experienced by most of the country we had a flood in our reception and admin areas. Fortunately no real damage was done and all has dried out. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
May 2007
Andrew's sons, Daniel and Alex, successfully completed their gliding course which culminated in a solo flight. They have both been invited back to continue the course onto the advanced stage which can lead to them obtaining instructor status.
Dean has completed the purchase of his first house and has moved in with his girlfriend. We wish them both every happiness in their home together. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
April 2007
Andrews eldest sons, Alex and Daniel have now started a course leading to qualifying as glider pilots. They have been lucky enough to earn a scholarship via the Air Training Corp. Over the easter weekend they went to the Peak District and completed the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award with a 48km hike over three days carrying a 60lbs pack the whole time. Well done to them both and good luck for the Gold section. On the completion of the Gold the award is presented at Buckingham Palace. |

March 2007
Congratulations to Laura who celebrated her 21st birthday this month.
As part of our support for Red Nose Day, we made a donation to come to work in casual dress as long as something red was worn. We managed to raise ?50 within the office. We are delighted to continue our association with the Marina Dalglish charity appeal for another year. We have provided a payroll service to the charity for the last year free of charge thereby allowing funds to be used toward the aims of the appeal. For more information on this appeal go to our links page. |

February 2007
Apart from the excitement of the snow early in the month it has been reasonably quiet. Ben was pleased to pass some more exams and now is left with just his finals to complete in the summer to become AAT qualified. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
January 2007
Following the hectic social schedule of December, we came back to the office in January with a bump as the self assessment deadline loomed large.
Vicky will be leaving us at the end of the month to concentrate on the development of her own business in the travel industry. We will miss her unique style and wish her the very best for the future. |

December 2006
In previous years we have sent Christmas cards to all our clients. Last year we broke with tradition and donated the money normally spent on cards to the hospital ward that treated Ben. This year we are going to continue with making donations. We are supporting a local charity in their calendar appeal and also donating money to the Baby Care Unit at Southend Hospital that provided amazing levels of care to Paul's son, Adam, as a New Born in December last year. We also wish Adam a happy 1st birthday this month. |

November 2006
Congratulations to Vicky who became a grandmother, for the first time, to Alfred Benjamin. Best wishes to you all - especially "nan". Over the last weekend in October we closed down and moved premises. Throughout October we have had the new building completely refurbished, having previously been used as a racked out storage facility. The conversion to office space has enabled us to create an open plan work environment in line with requests from our staff. Everybody worked hard over the move and were "rewarded" by being able to resume work Monday afternoon. |

October 2006
Andrew and Paul were joined by Frances, Shelley, Helen, Maria and Laura at the Barclays Bank Annual Charity Quiz Night. Some tricky questions were put to 18 teams from local businesses and over £5,000 was raised for both local and national causes. Well done to all involved on the organisation of the night. |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
September 2006
We took part in the Mullis & Peake charity five a side competition for the fourth consecutive year. Although we did not progress passed the group stage, we gave a reasonable account of ourselves with all our group matches being close finishes. We are pleased to take part in this event which this year supported Havering Victim Support. Our team consisted of Paul, Andrew, Lesley and her husband Ian, Maria and her husband Thomas, Dean, Helens partner Bruno, Peter from FMG (pictured with Paul and Andrew) and Dan and Steve from Spiderweb Systems (also pictured with Paul and Andrew). The final picture is with Mark Taylor of Barclays Bank.

August 2006
The holiday season is well under way with the office appearing to be run on half staff most of the time. Holiday destinations vary with some staying within the UK and others going abroad. There has not been one day in August with a full compliment in the office. |
